Code Requirement
Shower and tub/shower control valves must be one of the following:
• Pressure balanced
• Thermostatic mixing
• Combination pressure balance/thermostatic mixing valve types

• (IRC M1507.4)
• The valve must have a high limit stop to prevent water temperatures above 120°F (49°C).

• Hot water delivered to bathtubs and whirlpool bathtubs shall be limited to a temperature of not more than 120°F (49°C).

• Hot water delivered to bidets shall be limited to no more than 110°F (43°C).
